Renovating the kitchen in this 1840’s farmhouse required consolidating the mudroom, garage and old kitchen to accommodate the lifestyle of a family with three busy teenagers. The design worked around five doorways opening into the kitchen. Architectural elements on the ceiling and particular placement of the tiered island created two distinct eating areas and differentiated work areas, including a baking area.
